Recently, Les Affaires newspaper published an article titled “The representatives with light briefcases.” In this in depth article about portable technology, Francine Fiore presented the Companion Suite from CIS Group, a software solution that is already used by delivery personnel and sales reps at Saputo, Parmalat, Gadoua Bakery, Danone, Molson, Labatt, Sleeman, Loto-Québec, Quebecor, Clarins and Wonderbra in their daily activities.
“Parked in front of a bar in the Old Montreal, a beer delivery man empties his truck. Further down, another delivery person makes his yogurt delivery to a grocery store. Simply by looking at the handheld computers they carry, these delivery persons are able to know exactly what, where and when to deliver, what returns to pick up, how much money to collect, orders that need to be taken, and so on.”
The cosmetics industry is another sector that benefits tremendously from mobile technology. “Making their clients daily visits, sales reps can verify inventory availability in real-time at the point of sale, suggest new products and take orders, carry out promotions and special offers and do invoicing. All the information is displayed on a touch screen tablet pc and transmitted directly to the main office.
